Change a libraries default save location: Click on the library you want to change, in the right hand pane near the top left you will see the word ‘Includes’, click on ‘Location’, click the ‘Add’ button, navigate to the drive and folder you want to add and click ‘Include folder’. Right click on the folder you added to the library window and select ‘Set as default save location’.
Deleting a library file: OK, I got the idea you say, the library file name is like a shortcut to the real file. Wrong, a shortcut you will recall can be deleted without actually deleting the file the short points to. Delete the logical link in the library and you end up deleting both the link and the actual file.
Can I create a Shortcut in the library? Absolutely, simply right click on you first test photo and select ‘Create shortcut’, now create a shortcut for the second test photo you created. Next right click on the first short and select ‘Properties’, you will see that the shortcut Target points to: C:\Users\TestUser\Pictures\Test_01.png.
Now navigate from the Libraries\Pictures folder to C:\Users\TestUser\My Pictures\, sure enough both shortcut are also in this folder also.
Go back to Libraries\Pictures and delete the first shortcut you created. You will be asked if you really want to delete the shortcut, also notice file name and location, now click ‘Yes’ to delete the shortcut.
You just deleted the shortcut from the library folder named ‘Picture’ but if you check the ‘My Pictures’ folder you will find the shortcut has also been deleted in this folder as well.
Since you are currently in the ‘My Pictures’ folder right click and delete the remaining shortcut, now go back the Libraries\Pictures folder, the shortcut has been removed here also.
Basically deleting the actual file (wherever it is located on your hard drive will also remove the logical pointer from the library as well. The reverse is true for pointers in the library, delete the pointer and you delete the file wherever it physically is located. So if you accidentally delete a file in the library, don’t worry its still in the Recycle Bin.
