Blink of an Eye

At this years CES show they where all excited at the demo of a person controlling a computer using hand gestures. I can just imagine how fast you can input data by wiggling your hands wildly at the PC Display while sitting at your desk, most likely they would lock you up inside a loony bin. But then again your probably already skilled at this, especially after a meeting with the boss. Really the plain fact is that a keyboard and mouse are simply far to slow and have been around for a long time, they are ancient devices best seen in a museum.

I had the good fortune to work for a time at one of largest and leading companies advanced technology labs in the early 1980’s. At the
time I had discussed this same issue of humans inputting data via a keyboard as far to slow. So I suggested investigating the use of neural implants as a means of using mental thoughts to manipulate text and images. Needless to say even the best and brightest minds at that time all laughed at the idea.

But just think of using Photoshop to enhance a photo by looking at it and thinking that the background was too dark and needed to be
lightened and it happens, no menu selecting, slider tools, it just happens. Then you look at the modified photo and see red eye and think it must go and it’s gone, facial tones are too pink and automatically the flesh tones look more normal.

Ah but the fear of that neural implant and personal privacy will most likely kill this idea, so go on, use that keyboard while in the
background running on your PC (unknown to you) is a keystroke logger put there by a hacker or maybe even the company you are working for.

As for me, well it took only the blink of an eye to create this article.
